Farm stays have become popular among Vietnamese families who live in big cities. Instead of staying in crowded hotels, visitors spend two or three days on a working farm in the countryside, such as those near Đà Lạt or Mộc Châu. In the morning, guests wake up early to feed chickens, collect eggs and pick vegetables. In the afternoon, they join cooking classes where farmers show them how to prepare dishes with fresh local ingredients.

Doctors say that this kind of trip is good for both body and mind. Working outdoors gives visitors more exercise than sitting in an office, and breathing clean air helps reduce stress. Many parents also believe that children learn to appreciate food when they see how it is grown.

However, farm stays have some drawbacks. Because they are usually far from hospitals, visitors with serious health problems may find them risky. In addition, a sudden increase in tourists can disturb the farmers' daily routines and put pressure on local water supplies. For this reason, some farms now limit the number of guests to twenty a day and ask them to follow simple rules, such as saving water and not leaving rubbish behind.
